Just A Boy

I am just a boy stuck in a tree too scared to come down
too worried to leap onto the branches that are soaked brown
I am just a boy stuck in a tree who never reaches
who learns that maybe some things, no one teaches
I am just a boy stuck in a tree who looks down and not out
who can’t see the beauty only the doubt
I am just a boy stuck in a tree too scared to come down

I like the way that fear of climbing down from the tree means so much more. I have made some proofreading changes since this is being considered for publication. To view changes, select Revisions.

I love the way you decided to express and (I think) metaphorically express not only fears but learning and self doubt perhaps. This piece is beautiful.
