I have a crazy story to tell you. I can hardly believe it myself. It starts at the zoo in the city next to my town. My family and I decided to spend the first day of vacation at the zoo. I’ve been there once before, but when I was a small kid. Anyways, there were a lot of people at the zoo so it was very noisy and crowded. While I was there I would usually think, these poor animals have to deal with this everyday, they must be used to it though. All the animals seemed tolerant with the people there, and I wondered what it would be like to be one of those animals. I wondered really hard, it was the only thing on my mind.
Then all of a sudden my sight changed, I could see differently than I was use to. I grew taller too. Mostly everybody was smaller than me, even the grown ups. I was standing on all fours but it felt natural, not uncomfortable. There was a weird, tingling sensation going through my body and everybody gave me a an amazed look and slowly walked toward me, like I was a sight they’ve never seen before. Even my family gave me a look. Honestly, I almost cried. I had trouble being in public, and this made me feel great about myself. I had a lot of attention, but after a while, it started to get uncomfortable. People were reaching out to touch me. That’s when I looked down and realized, I was a giraffe.
I started to move toward my family and almost tripped over my feet. Walking as a giraffe was a difficult task. When I tried to talk to my parents, a weird noise came out of my mouth and everybody started laughing. I think some people even recorded it. I bent my neck to get closer to my family without tripping over my feet, people awed and giggled and made noises of amazement. I tried talking to my parents again, just in case the first time was me just warming up to my giraffe voice. No luck. The same sound came out of my mouth.
I was freaking out. I had no clue how this happened and I couldn’t tell anybody what happened. I didn’t want to stay a giraffe forever and I didn’t want my family to leave me. I started to make loud crying noises, but, nobody could really tell I was crying because I was a giraffe. Then, one of the employees at the park noticed me and led me to the giraffe exhibit. I didn’t want to go there, so I started struggling, but they got me in. I just sat there in despair. I didn’t want to be a giraffe, I wanted to be a human, with my family. I still feel bad for the animals, they probably went through the same things, but I didn’t want to experience it. It was horrible.
I decided to tell one of the giraffes what happened. You know what, they believed me. So they helped me get out and gave me advice on how to transform back into a human. Apparently that happens a lot. Weird. I wonder if that zoo is enchanted. Anyways, I took the advice and in a few minutes I turned back into my regular self. When my parents found me they told me I worried them sick and never to do that again. I said I would try, but could make no promises. That confused them. We decided to go home after that and have a peaceful night. For some strange reason, I can’t wait to come back and see what other adventures await me there.
