A letter to somebody I used to know

Dear you,

I said I missed you, but I didn't miss you, I missed how you treated me before you would leave. When you came back the first time you said you were staying, and that you made mistakes. I believed you, of course I did, I thought you were better than that, to treat a girl like a toy and and play with her feelings. But I thought that you were back for good this time, oh was I wrong. You lasted four hours before you left again. When you come back, I’ll be able to see right through your lies. I say “when”, when being the key word, because I know you’ll be back. As soon as she leaves you, when she realizes what kind of person you actually are, she’ll leave you. And sure, moving on is going to be tough, and seeing you with her is going to be rough. You’ve already let go. And it hurts more and more everyday, but I learned to accept that you were a lesson, a lesson that taught me not to get too attached too quickly, and to start at the bottom with trust when you meet someone and let it build up. So thank you, for teaching me that lesson. I wish you the best in the rest of this crazy life journey, and your mission to become a better person and to rise above the mistakes you’ve made. I can’t go back, I won’t go back. I'll try my best to forget you, but I’ll still wave to you if I see you around, knowing that now you’re just somebody I used to know.
