Where I Went

I lay in the forest;
a tree grows from my heart.
The roots wrap around my veins,
and infuse my blood with sap.
My body falls into the earth,
as my soul grows up towards the heavens,
and blooms with dull colors.

    Your imagery is as unsettling as it is beautiful - if feels impossible to read this without letting your mind wander to a melancholy dream space. Do you ever dabble with visual art as well? I can't help but think this would be the perfect accompaniment to, or actual part of, something more expansive. (And if your readers find themselves wishing there were more in some way... well, I hope you'll take that as a high compliment!)

    Thank you! I tired to keep this poem pretty short, but I'm glad if people want more! As for visual art, I've never really been the best photographer, although maybe I'll try someday. Thanks for reading and commenting!
