An Assortment of My Thoughts

Thursday, Sept. 12th
12:12 PM

I feel like I'm always writing poems, and I should try something different. So here is something different. Here are my thoughts.
  • I've been keeping a diary for almost three years straight now, and nobody has ever looked beyond the front cover except for me. And its nice to know that I can write anything (angry rants about the past week, bland poetry, lists of my current favorite things, etc.) and nobody will ever read it. And since my diary will never be read, I will never have to face the mountain of criticism that I would most certainly receive for those terrible poems.
  • I want to be part of a book club. One with people my age who enjoy reading and annotating Jane Austen's novels, or re-reading Harry Potter and engaging in discussions about what J.K. Rowling is actually trying to tell the reader. I want to be part of a group that is different than my sports teams, or my friends - one where we only have to see each other every few weeks, and we can talk about our thoughts on if John Green is really worth reading or not and eat good food together.*
  • Is it weird that I can't wait for the day I graduate college, or the day I get married, or the day I buy my first car? I just want to be treated like an adult more, and it feels like I'll only be treated like an adult when my age starts with a three. Or a two. But only sometimes.
  • Continuing off of this, I have the rest of my high school career planned out (and a good amount of college, too.) Is that weird, or just good thinking? Please note that that was a rhetorical question. I don't need to get have answer for that because there is no chance of me scrapping my plan. It's a good one.
  • Getting good grades feels awkward sometimes. Like, everyone else around you is definitely not planning on taking honors classes next year, and they definitely don't care that you like reading, and they really don't think its awesome that you're polite to the teachers.
  • Also, I've been thinking a lot recently about about getting caramel-brown highlights in my hair. For reference, my hair is thoroughly medium-brown and curly. I think it would look good, but you're welcome to let me know what you think if you are even thinking anything about this at all.
Alright, that's all for now. This was sort-of like a mini diary entry. Thanks for reading if you did, because that's nice of you. :)

Charvermont, YWP had an online book club one summer and it was really fun. Would you be interested in starting one on YWP? I bet others would be interested. We can help!
