THANK YOU REBECCA VALLEY for this free and fun writing workshop on ekphrastic poetry! Rebecca, a published poet, editor, and alumna of Young Writers Project, joined us Saturday, March 18, 2023 for a packed hour of exploring the connections between art and words! Thank you to everyone who joined us! See Rebecca's attached PDF with followup resources from the workshop! And her invitation to stay in touch with her! Rebecca's workshop on ekphrastic poetry – writing influenced by art – featured artists such as Vermont's Vaune Trachtman, whose spectral images inspired YWP's writers, including Geri, who wrote the poem: "A House Is Like a Human" (https://youngwritersproject.org/node/47873). And the workshop sparked so much interest in Vaune Trachtman that we featured her in our monthly Great Artists Challenge in April! (https://youngwritersproject.org/node/45754) See below:
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: In this online workshop, Rebecca explores art as inspiration to dive deeper into your imagination. There will be time to write, in any genre you'd like, inspired by paintings and prompts. You'll also learn about some great resources to find artistic inspiration in the future. This workshop is part of YWP's ArtSpace and the Great Artists Challenge.
