Today, we were listening to a song
And we cried.
A tear ran down my face, and with that we both cried.
Because so much has been going on
And the demons we keep locked away are slowly escaping.
Slowly tearing us down.
Piece by piece.
But we cried
Because that's our song.
It's the first song we slow danced to as a couple.
It tells our story.
And our story is the one that keeps us here.
I know that if we didn't have each other
We wouldn't bother battling our demons.
It's almost a pointless battle.
Because it's two against a million.
But as long as we stay together
The battle won't end.
We still have a chance to survive.
But what happens if one of us gives up?
Decides that we're tired of feeling lost,
Feeling like everyday we shatter into smaller parts of something that started off broken.
What if it we lose our battle against ourselves
And give up?
But no matter how much we want to give up
Neither of us ever does.
Because we know that if one of us goes,
So does the other
And it'll kill us if we were the reason the other left.
With everything we do, our main priority is to protect one another.
That's always been what's most important.
And it always will be.
(For those who were wondering the song is “Bless The Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts.)
