The new normal

It's been a while since we've all seen each other,
You've been missed very much,
but all I'm allowed to give you
an air hug.
How is this different than school at home?
No one's talking,
No one's laughing,
to think I used to think the glass was half full.
Everyone's wearing masks,
to protect themselves,
but it takes away the smiles we all used to see.
Our desks are 6 feet apart,
The smell of disinfectant is strong.
There's no paper,
The germs would stay on.
At least the teachers
can use the tech now,
But please don't let this be
the new normal.
