WHY CAN’T YOU SEE?

You are strong
You are smart, thoughtful, beautiful.
But you are blind.

Why can't you see the way
They look at you
They're so jealous
Of your wisdom, your kindness,
Your beauty, your power
So why do you hide?

Why can't you see the way
That I look at you
My admiration turns me
Into a puddle on the floor
I feel so helpless
Beside your talent
But you are blind.

If only one day you could wake up
And see yourself
The way they see you
The way I see you
You'd be so confident
You wouldn't try to hide
You'd change the world
I know you can.
So why can't you see?

    you are not you.

    you are what i think
alas i refuse to admit i am wrong.
    what can i say?
i love this version of you
he is kind and sweet and loving
    so very beautiful.
  • Slippery slope

    The way is harsh
    The light is dim
And we forget to celebrate love
Instead condemning faultless faults and forged sins
    We sit in silence
Festering in our lack of empathy
Or we stand and scream because still we are not heard
