The Email

I logged in to my email, quickly typing my name as a shortcut. Two new emails. One of them was the email I had been waiting for; an email from YWP. I clicked on it, not expecting what was about to happen. I started to read, sort of skimming down the response. Then I saw it- The line. That one line that made me a whole lot happier. It said that my account had been approved! I was a year younger. I was 10. I gasped, and whispered, “Seriously? Is this really happening?” I jumped up and told Mom. “I got into Young Writers Project.” I explained what had happened, and even read the email. I had been really excited for my birthday, when I would turn 11 and could join YWP.

It’s finally happened, I’m here. I am really happy right now.

I am riding in a rickety carriage
    Full of other prisoners

    As I am

    And the sun
    Is hiding behind a cloud
A cloud that covers the whole sky
    In a blanket of
    Black

    October.
    Already?
    It still feels like winter.
    The orange of the pumpkin
    Looks like the sun
    And reminds me
    You don't know it's fall,
Because you never saw the summer

  • Frozen Tears

    tink tink tink
    Standing outside
    The harsh,
    Cold wind
    Rushing through my soul
    And cutting into wounds,
    The ones you can't see
    And I start crying
Trying to hold back the tears
    But I can't
    And they come ,
