my thoughts on normality.

"Normal is a fallacy
something we pretend to be
but no one really can truly
achieve complete normality"    - credit to Crecent_Moon

because there simply
is no such thing
and yet we humans persist
to have expectations
we force on our peers
our kids
our families
and friends
these silly molds we like to pretend
make a "perfect" person
one with no flaw
but that in itself
is the greatest flaw of all
no person is the same
they are all as diverse as their fingerprints
and so to achieve perfect
on must accept
that one is not
but keep bettering themselves
with the underlying thought
that they are enough
and perfect
is just a guideline
normal
is just an assumption
and individuality
kindness
and understanding
are the most important things we can be.

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
