Constellations

i want to be there
the day the rivers
turn to stained glass

i want to watch the trees
crumble
into sand
want to hear
the catbirds last

of melodies

i want to taste
the last cinnamon flurry
of a December snowstorm

Want to stand in place
the day
the sky falls
shares with the ground
all it's sorrows

i want to hear the
ferns last sigh

want to feel
the last velvet kiss
of a purplegold sunset

i want to see the stars die

i want to see them explode
into colors no one
has ever imagined

want to watch them

down the blackblue
dome of the sky
spilled paint
flowering
over water

i want to be
the last thing
earth and sky see
a splintered fragment of myself
before
everthing turns back

into constellations
