Forget Me Please

When I leave, forget me please
I’d much rather be forgotten
than have my name said with a frown
Put a few flowers by my grave and walk away please
Tears are just too sad
I’ll hope you dance and jump and sing
Because my life was good enough
And you’ll have all of yours ahead of you
If you have to think of me
At least do it with a laugh
At the strange old life of you and I
Make sure there's cookies
And lemonade
At my silly old funeral
I know you’ll have that stranger urge to laugh
I hope you do
And everyone looks at you
And laughs as well
Life is entirely too empty of strange laughs

  • Waiting for Winter

    I wait for winter
    in her heavy white boots
    and sharp sparkling nails
her 5th avenue white fur coat
    and flushed pink cheeks
    she wears black tights
    taught over thin, toned legs
    summer and autumn
    watch her in envy
  • roots

    My deep tangled roots
    Twisted into knots
    Running cross country
    Are dragging towards the ocean
Yearning for the sun dripping down
    Over wet seals bodies
    In warm embrace
    I want nothing to do
    With this life
    Today,
  • Sunday

The rain has found its way
    Onto our mountain
    Drenching each new bud
    Reaching for life
    In the foggy air
    Smothering their joyous cries
As mud seems to engulf us
    One
    By one
