Melting Faces

Plastic kings and queens
March these hallways
Their Hollow somaches
Slowly drowning them
Glitter and shine covering everything they touch
Their faces melting in the heat
Dripping into masks they claw from their faces

California dreaming
As our foremothers tremble
In the pain of freedom
And our disdain for it

Dirty river skin
And sun bleached hair
Coveted with
Beach babe sludge and highlights
Beauty is our only savior
God has forgotten us long enough to make us ugly
The dolls at the bottom of the toy box
Covered in marker and glitter
With haircuts done by aspiring glue eaters

When you are no longer drowning
Call me

  • Waiting for Winter

    I wait for winter
    in her heavy white boots
    and sharp sparkling nails
her 5th avenue white fur coat
    and flushed pink cheeks
    she wears black tights
    taught over thin, toned legs
    summer and autumn
    watch her in envy
  • roots

    My deep tangled roots
    Twisted into knots
    Running cross country
    Are dragging towards the ocean
Yearning for the sun dripping down
    Over wet seals bodies
    In warm embrace
    I want nothing to do
    With this life
    Today,
  • Sunday

The rain has found its way
    Onto our mountain
    Drenching each new bud
    Reaching for life
    In the foggy air
    Smothering their joyous cries
As mud seems to engulf us
    One
    By one
