Just Me and the Wind

By Sophie Brown

The cold wind making my branches sway back and forth, the crisp breeze blowing on the few remaining leaves left on my branches as I wait.

I wait for the people to wake up and start their day. I wait for the sun to come up over the mountains to warm the already spine-shivering day.

I wait, only me and the wind, the quiet whistle of the breeze across the otherwise, silent town. As the sun starts to rise I begin to feel the warm rays of sunlight seeping through my branches, spreading across the little town. As the people of the small town rise, they are greeted by the sun shining bright in the sky, the wind blowing in the background as the little town starts their day. The sunsets over the mountains and the small town start to wind down, I sit on my hill and watch as the lights in the houses turn off, the sun finishes setting, and then all the sudden the town turns quiet again, and just like before, just me and the wind.
