This year, the leaves feel new.
I have seen them every fall
as far back as I can remember,
but this year
the colors are different,
more vibrant.
They stand out in a way
that I have never seen.
I tried to take a picture
but things never look as good on camera.
The mountains look like a watercolor painting,
bright reds, oranges, yellows,
but hazy
from the last of the morning fog.
Standing on the balcony,
the wind rushes past me.
The world may be a chaotic place
but here, time stands still, and I am happy.
