The Old Chairs

I wish they hadn't switched around the chairs
It's a little request, I know
Not of conequence to anyone except the deep void of my mind
But I'm allowed to wish it
The first ones were an ugly pale tan-grey-peach color
Matched the drab pallate of the schools, the long shadows and deep eyebags on the students
They were metal, made when my father was just a child
They weren't comfortable in any way
But they fit
These new ones are tacky, shiny green plastic
The color of fake christmas trees
They have an arch right where your lower back rests
"For support"
Yeah
When has this school done anything to support me
These chairs are a guise
A brochure for a utopia who doesn't really exist
So while the old chairs are ugly
Tacky
Uncomfortable
Old
At least they were true

It was just a fluke that I happened to see

The ghost of a girl in 1893

I didn't think much of her, tried to ignore

But then she came 'round in 1894

A spirit was not something that I had wanted

  • Papercuts

Did you know that, when you wrote me, I was made of papercuts

That I was ink and glue and wax but mostly, I was papercuts

Did you know that, when you read me, I am made of memories
