Tomorrow

Tomorrow I hope that
there is equity among people of all beliefs,
that our environment isn’t being destroyed by our ever-increasing emissions,
and that gun violence is a thing of the past.
That we will work together to terminate climate change and that That homes won't be swept out to sea by howling winds or burned down by raging fires.
That innocent people won be killed by guns.

Tomorrow I hope we
can all open our eyes in the morning and love life.
We won't discriminate
All genders, races, and abilities will be accepted.
That we won't be pressured by society to conform to its standards.

Tomorrow I hope I
I can wake up in the morning and be happy.
That I won’t be constantly comparing myself to others.
And That I am loved for who I am.

How can we hope for tomorrow without working today?

  • Spring's here

    The day was balmy
And I was as dull as drying paint
Plastered to the walls of my mind
While the world buzzed outside my window

I distantly heard its newfound restlessness
The soft murmurs of chirping birds
  • Replaced

I tiredly stumbled down the hallway.
Gently swinging the bedroom door open.
I peer down over the paint-chipped baby blue crib.
I look into the the soft face of my son.
    He opens his eyes.
    This isn’t my son.
    Where has he gone!
  • She's beautiful

I look up at the moon.
    At her dust-covered crevices.
Her bright light guiding us through the dark.
    She circles our planet.
Perpetually moving around our beautiful earth.
    Earth's only natural satellite.
