ODE TO A LITTLE SISTER

You know, I WAS asleep
Before you barreled in
And dumped your dirty diaper on my head
By the way, that wasn’t appreciated
At all
But since when do you care
If someone else doesn’t want you to do something
You do it anyway.
I kind of envy that sometimes
The kick-butt-now-apologize-never attitude
I only get it in my daydreams.
And remember that day in the snow?
I still don’t understand what hugging trees
Has to do with you being cold
But I took you inside anyway
Warmed you up and read you a story
And then
Just when we were getting cozy
You decided you wanted to go outside again
 Thanks for that one too.
Its not like I don’t know how you do it
You know my soft spot
My one weakness
You know that if you gaze into my eyes
And plead,
Your hands clasped under your chin
That I will do anything you ask of me.
After all, you’re my one and only
My darling
Dearest
Precious
Fiery
Dangerous
Sneaky
Brilliant
Fearless
Beloved
Little sister.

    you are not you.

    you are what i think
alas i refuse to admit i am wrong.
    what can i say?
i love this version of you
he is kind and sweet and loving
    so very beautiful.
  • Slippery slope

    The way is harsh
    The light is dim
And we forget to celebrate love
Instead condemning faultless faults and forged sins
    We sit in silence
Festering in our lack of empathy
Or we stand and scream because still we are not heard
