Beautiful Blue

the water
was the most beautiful shade of blue
like the color your eyes become when it snows
and if I could I would have jumped in
letting the bubbles cushion my descent to the lake bottom
and if I could
I would have pulled you in with me
to watch those magnificent eyes of yours
as their color changes
and if I could
I would have brushed those lips of yours with my own
and if I could I would have held my breath
until my face turned blue
the most beautiful shade
of blue
if I could
I would have held you close
before letting you walk away
and if I could
I would have painted your cheeks with a blush
and made your eyes widen with my words
if I could
but I cant
cause the past
is now just blue tinted memories
and they are oh,
the most beautiful shade of blue.

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
