Abstract thoughts

time fades outwards
in ever expanding ripples

like a small pebble
thrown into a vast lake

your smile lights up my life
with a gentle glow, capable of illuminating my way in complete darkness

like a fire
on a cold winter night

shy love filling the empty void of hatred
nurturing the lonely child

like a gentle hand
caring for a fresh green sproutling

friendship creates a bandage to heal our wounds
covering our scars of isolation with the clean white cotton of hope

like how a smile covers a child's face
when you tell them a joke only they understand

while time fades outwards
in ever expanding ripples

like a tiny pebble of a person
in the vast lake of life

  • The Boxes In The Corner

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

  • Paper Frogs

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
