Just Like That

Beep. beep. beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep... 
your life stops,
it flat lines and moves in a constant line,
you were alive but then it stopped,
it all just stops,
just like that,
but if we're being honest,
your life stopped a long time ago,
things went by you,
things left you,
they faded away and left you behind,
you were unhappy,
you were bored,
seconds turned into minutes,
and minutes into days,
your life stopped having meaning,
the colors weren't the same anymore,
you don't remember when things started changing,
it just happened,
just like that,
so when they said, "Time of death, 5:42 pm." 
that was a lie,
because you died years before that.
