Halloween Smarties

"I feel so bad he's sick today," my 5th grade teacher thoughtfully said, "and Halloween is his favorite holiday. I hope he'll still get to trick-or-treat." I could hear my teacher from across the room. This kid in my class was absent on the day of Halloween! We all felt bummed for him. However, we were all still so excited for Halloween! I just loved the thought of walking around to houses and getting candy! And then, to make things even better, my mom would put apple cider in the Croc-Pot so it got nice and hot for us once we finished Trick-or-Treating. That night, I had a blast Trick-or-Treating with my friends and family! The next day at school, the student who missed school said that he hadn't gotten to Trick-or-Treat, so I went to my backpack and pulled out a small pack of Smarties. I had planned on eating them, but I had an idea. I walked over to him and handed him the Smarties.
"Here you go." I smiled. He hesitantly took the candy.
"Thank you."
