I was so still
Too still
I think he had known that I was alone
He spread from my head
And dripped to the floor
Making me slip when I tried to run
He said so slimily sweet
“If you have seen me
You know me”
I bit my lip
And seeped in his spitting image

She claimed she could only lie
I did not see how that could be
If she could only lie
She’d claim to only speak the truth
And if she only spoke the truth
She could not claim to lie to me

“I hardly know you”
She said in a voice that made me feel so small
I plucked the man from my mind
And spoke
Not sweet this time
Just slimy
