Garment Workers In LA

City streets fill, coming to life like the beginning of a movie

The buildings glimmer on the outside similar to a new ruby

But inside everyone toils endlessly like it’s their duty

The sewing machines start, the noises filling up the air

workers sit down, putting their backs to a metal chair

The fabric starts to pile up, haphazardly without care

People's backs start to hunch over, pulling them all down

foremen come in, sauntering with a golden crown

They stalk the rows, glaring on with a fearsome frown

Defeated hands force fabric through a never ending machine

Needles penetrating withered skin, like it’s their routine

The hidden truths of the factories happen to be unseen

The machines stop and everybody relaxes and breathes

The one break in the day is fleeting and is stolen by thieves

Then it's back to struggling as the foreman seethes

Everyone lines up, stretching like a cat after a long nap

They wait for the foreman to lure them to an evil trap

Every time they’re tricked into an unfair pay they want to snap

They go home and try to keep their heads up and stand tall

Everyone looks at them like they expect them to be small

But they won’t take this anymore and will make the owners fall

The workers will fight like they never have fought before

Because they will not be treated badly for a simple store

The garment workers will get their rights and win and restore
