I flip through the pages
Tears rolling down my face
Falling onto the paper
I see a girl
With a smile on her face
Clear skin
Long, gorgeous hair
Hope glistening in her eyes
The tears blur my vision
But I can see this girl clearly in my mind
She was a sweet, innocent soul
Untouched by sorrow
Unfamiliar with pain
Her worst problems were scraped knees from bike rides
I look in the mirror
Searching for the girl I once knew
But I can’t find her anymore
Now I see a distant gaze
Messy hair
Eyes deeper than oceans
Filled with agony
Where did she go
Can I turn back time
And tell her to never change
Can I leave everything behind
And be the girl I was before
When I close my eyes
I see her
But I know
In my head
And in my heart
I’ll never be the sweet, innocent girl I once was
