Spotlight

Darkness unveils in the sky

Enveloping, trapping, strangling me

Words pitter patter into my brain

Tiny as rain

Strong as a truck

Hitting hard. I come back to reality.

I look back, road there

Twisted and confused

I don’t know where I’m going

No direction, no sense of belonging

The road ahead I see–

Nothing.

Imagining standing up top

Waving at the crowd

The spotlight belongs to me,

But it shined on someone else.

Sinking down, drowning in the deep

Black sea. Chilling.

I turned away willing

Can I pray it turns its light on me?

Will it back out of my reach?

Don’t leave

I want it

I deeply long for it.

Determination as the key

The spotlight belongs to me.
