As We Walk

Let us take a quick walk down the road;
Or through a field, where crops are sown;
Or maybe even walk downtown.
What comes to mind as we walk along?

Does the bright evening sun warm your face?
Does it warm your heart to see children playing chase?
Does your bad day get better by walking with me?
What do you feel? What comes to mind?

I see the brittle saplings bending down under the pressure of the east wind;
I hear the songbirds singing their sweet trill;
I feel our hands brushing against each other as we walk side by side.
What do you feel? What comes to mind?

Do you see the field mice running along with us?
Do you hear the bubbly laughter of bunnies at play?
Do you feel the warmth of my hand in yours?
What do you feel? What comes to mind?

I see the empty dirt road in front of us extending for miles;
I hear the tiny trickle of water in the nearby brook;
I feel the wind hugging us from behind.
What do you feel? What comes to mind?

Do you ever think long and hard as you walk down this dusty road?
Do you ever wish that maybe just once, you could live a simpler life?
Do you wish that this world could give you time to relax and think?
Do you want to take things slow down an old, empty road?

Well, my friend, take a walk anywhere.
Through a field; or an old dirt road;
Or even downtown.
Take a walk and experience the things that you feel.
