A girl from a far away town came to our school, I knew from the moment I saw her she was different, she didn’t care what people thought, she didn’t care if they stared, she didn’t care if they laughed. But many people stared and many people laughed. She had a doesn't-matter-what-you-say sort of face. I saw her burns, her missing hair, her swollen eye, and scarred face. I wondered what happened, but I already knew the answer, she was in a terrible fire. She is a survivor, she is not someone you would see every day, she is unique, she is kind, she is the only person here who stands out, she glows in the sun, she doesn't look at the past, she stands up for herself, she knows she is different, she knows she is brave, she knows how to survive. That’s what makes me so curious about her, so worried about her. But there is one thing I know for sure one thing you don’t need to ask about one thing you don’t need to see, one thing that you just know. I know that she is beautiful but in her own way.
