Research an activist who may or may not be well known, perhaps someone who is working on an issue in your community or someone who has just recently been in the news, such as Emma Gonzalez (photo above). Write a persona poem about this person to help people better understand the human aspect of the story that is often left out. A persona, from the Latin for mask, is a character taken on by a poet in a first-person poem. Persona poems are great as spoken word. If you can, record yourself reading your poem and add the audio to your blog! Example poem: Ethel's Sestina by Patricia Smith. Due April 26
