Daily Challenges: A new idea to explore and create each day. Use sound and photos, too!

[Challenge created by Erin Bundock, YWP alumna]
Proportion is the size relationship between different elements and how they work together. Proportion in photography is based on camera placement as well as the placement of the elements within the shot. In the examples above, see how placing a hand in different places in the shot changes its proportion to the subject's face? Sometimes it is helpful to play with the proportion of objects relative to each other by placing them next to each other. Pick one object and play around with its proportional relationships in your photos. Take 5 to 10 photos and arrange them in a slideshow. As you look through your slideshow, think about how the proportions of the object change, and how we interpret these changes. You may be surprised by how different your subject can look.
