an Empire for Two

A courageous breath, dared to breathe
among the sea swine and kelp,
bubbles rising up against the tyranny
of the gravitational pull of reality.
trying to grip the oceans in it's slippery fingers.

We walk the cemetery of promises,
ever growing, rising up, slowly building us
an empire of lies to rule together,
as one we rose so as one we fall.
an empire for two.

Cornflowers sway anonymously among
the fractured sky, clouds swim in and
out of this piece of sky some puffed
with ambition, others dark and full
of drowned sailors. others just living.

We are morsels of air, feathers
to rest on the quiet breeze of change,
we are, we are, we are in a snap of fingers.
Hope is a thing with feathers.
