The Shoes of a Stay at Home Mother

I stay at home
All day,
Constantly working,
Translating Japanese to Engish
And vice versa.

My husband
Goes to work early,
The sky, a dark grey.
My children
Leave for school,
Light in the sky.

Alone
With the hyper dog.
He jumps around,
I make breakfast.

My plate of hot food
And coffee,
Placed on my desk.
Sitting at the computer
All day,
Working away.

My children come home,
Straight to their rooms.

I am tired,
Yet,
I have to prepare dinner.

I find myself at the computer
Again.
I grow tired.
I stop typing.

I prepare myself for bed;
Roll out the futon;
Falling asleep quickly.

The cycle repeats itself
In the morning.

    This is an excellent piece! It really captures the atmosphere of monotony and fatigue.
