Nov 22

my light fades
and time feels frozen
as I steadily breathe in the frigid night air
and allow the snowflakes to settle softly
on the shoulders of my old jacket
I look up at the star speckled sky
the clouds were shrouding most of the light from them
but the crescent moon still shone brightly
gently illuminating the tiny pine clearing
and caressing my exhaustion wrinkled face with moonbeams
here I will find peace
in the smell of ice and pine sap
here I will find myself
among the souls of the sleeping squirrels
and quietly hooting owls
here I will live
in a way I just can't
anywhere else.
