I have trypophobia.
It's the aversion to small holes or irregular patterns.
I've always hated when people ask 'oh, did you look it up or something?'
No, I didn't look it up on the internet and see images that gave me an extreme aversion.
I'm pretty good about keeping calm when I do see stuff that sets me off.
I mean the school ceiling is covered in small holes.
But it's the worst when people are weird about it.
Asking about the ceiling, and sponges, and all sorts of random stuff.
I guess people find it hard to believe,
but I have a few stories I'd like to share here. :)
This one time I was washing the dishes.
I use this kind of cloth sponge, without any holes in it.
But we do have a normal one to clean out the sink,
which isn't something I normally have to do.
But I looked over and saw this sponge.
There was some sort of food stuck in it,
which sometimes makes it even worse.
I tried to put the plate I was putting on the drying rack,
but it slid off and smashed on the floor.
Already kind of freaked out,
it just made the whole thing worse.
I did sort things out eventually,
but it's stuck with me.
This one time,
I was at a sleep away camp,
and someone pointed out this pattern of water to me.
They asked me if it activated my trypophobia.
It didn't, and I told them so, but it really surprised me that someone would try to do that to me.
It's kind of hard to explain what trypophobia feels like,
and it really depends on the situation,
but I'll try my best.
I tend to start breathing really fast or not at all,
and a lot of the time I'll freeze.
If it's really bad,
the room will seem to get smaller until it's all I can see.
It's also pretty common for me to start feeling physically sick.
I'll also get really tense for a little while.
Overall, my reaction differs a lot.
But anyway, I've never liked when people act like trypophobia is some internet fad that people use for attention. It's not true, and I don't like people challenging my sensitivites.
Well, have a good day!

my friend has trypophobia. we attend an art class together, and they have several different art installations that they change out, one time, it was just paintings of dots, she couldn't really look at them without making a weird face. i have arachnophobia, witch i have been told is a ridiculous fear, my father told me that the more I learn about what i fear, the less i will fear it, i get the idea, but no. that only makes me more paranoid, to the point where i cant even go to sleep at night sometimes. I'm sorry, i turned this into an entire rant-response. but my point is, i like your piece, and i think it's wonderfully written, so much so, that it inspired me!!! :)
