Stardust

I use the stars as my ladder
and climb up into the night sky.
I dance alongside the moon,
a comet of bright flame.
When the night ends
I glide back down
and brush off the stardust
clinging to my hair.
Sparkly,
so sparkly
full of life and laughter.
The day grows bright
and the moon fades away.
My energy drains
and my colors are dull
all out of stardust once more.
My flame has gone out
I am no more than a puppet.
The day has taken something from me
something that I need.
The hours drip by
so slowly
until the sun sets once again.
I climb back up the stars
and my color is revived.
I come alive in the night sky
my something has returned.
I am covered in stardust.
Finally
I am satisfied.
