poem challenge: CJP-If...
Inkpaw

if I could. . .

If I could
I would reach up
and pluck the moon from the sky
and hold it
my world revolving around this one light
my joy anchored to its presence.
If I could
I would grow wings
and go wherever I pleased
for there is no limit
to the endless cloud realm of the sky.
If I could
I would spill the colors of the world
all over my life
and paint them into pictures of joy
covering the walls
and filling my heart with ink stained memories.
If I could
I would dance around the stars
to my own heartbeat
letting the wind carry me home
when my legs can no longer hold my weight
but
I can't do any of those things
so
I will make you
my moon
and always hold you dear.
I will make my voice
my wings
to carry me higher than my sorrow.
I will mix up my own colors
and paint my way through the blank canvas days
and I will make all the people of the world
my stars
to dance the dance of life with
together.
