Warnings on TV turned down to a murmur
Precautions tossed to the wind.
Airplanes boarded by the young and healthy
“This will never stop unless…” fades into an echo they choose to ignore
As friends celebrate a new break
A break that is nothing to be celebrated
Meanwhile, communities are blamed for deaths
Communities whose citizens have done nothing to blame
Millions of confused faces glance from one to another
Seeking an answer
Who is there to blame?
In the growing commotion this question rings out
The search for a scapegoat in a field of cattle
Who should I hate?
Who should I fear?
Who takes the blame…
For times of fear turn into times of blame
But now there is no one to blame and it is no time to blame
Yet for the healthy, the fear recedes
To that same dull echo they choose to ignore
But without fear where is the caution?
