poem
Crescent_Moon

Numb

hunched over
staring
unblinking
at a screen
finger twitching
scrolling
continuously
not absorbing
just skimming
looking at headlines
proclaiming things like
death
destruction
famine
it's nothing new
nothing that actually
makes you
want to click
and investigate
you just keep scrolling
unable
to break away
from the glow
of the rectangle
it hypnotizes
and holds you there
until you're brain
melts
like your parents
said it would
but you don't care
you can't care anymore
everything is numb
and nothing
matters
the only thing
keeping you alive
is the light
and the colors
they help you survive
so you can't
turn away
and face the world
because
maybe
you would actually
find meaning
in the void
and not need
this life support
that feeds your insanity
and we can't
let that happen
can we?

Wow! This is a really powerful poem and I love how you build the intensity throughout the poem.
