piercing lights

As I lay on the cool sand of the beach I looked up
to the distant place, the void, the darkness, and
the small lights piercing the dark blanket of sleep

I fell the soft fingers of the breeze brush against my cheek
and the leaves start to flutter by in this small rush of night air

As I stare off into this serene plane
full of miniature suns hanging
above my head
I find myself comfortably
alone
