The teacher put our name cards down
right next to each other
and then she introduced us
telling us how wonderful we both are

We sat down rather awkwardly
sitting in the silence
and finished our work in record time
before all the others

Both of us finished
with nothing else to do
so we pulled out our computers
and flipped up the glowing screens

And then you nudged me
showed me something
on your laptop screen
I don't remember what it was

Whatever it was it was funny
and I giggled just a bit
leaning over and watching you
as you showed me all sorts of things

Soon we were both laughing
and after class we walked together
through the halls to lunch
like we had always been friends
