During these times of trial, it is important for people to be there for each other. Just the other day my neighborhood got together to celebrate a kid’s birthday on our block. Because of social distancing the boy was unable to have a birthday party. So friends, family and neighbors decided to make his birthday special. We got down to work. Later that day we drove up to the boy’s house. Signs hanging from windows, car horns honking hello. We waved, sharing a friendly smile. You could tell it meant so much to the family. It was amazing seeing all those people working together to make the best of a tough situation. Giving the birthday boy not a gift that he could hold, but a gift he could feel. We gave him the gift of happiness.
