Warning: violent actions and death is described.
One upon a time, there was a man named George Floyd.
He moved to Minneapolis, parting from long time friends and family.
Not long ago, he was suspected of foregry, a non-violent crime,
and was arrested by two white officers.
But its more complicated then that.
When the white officers asked him about foregry and he risisted,
they attacked him, and one officer held his knee onto his neck while the other confronted the growing crowd.
"Please, I can't breathe," George gasps.
The officer ignores his pleas.
The growing crowd shouts,
telling the white officers to give him mercy,
to check his pulse.
They do not comply.
After several minutes,
George looses consciousness.
The officer does not take his knee off this innocent man's neck.
After 7 minutes of being pined to the ground,
The officer on his neck finally relented.
George was dead,
his airpassage in his neck blocked,
so he couldn't breathe.
I don't know why these officers chose to kill an innocent,
I don't know how someone can possibly be that terrible.
Later, a picture was realised of the same man who was pinning George down,
wearing a "Make whites great again" baseball cap.
Spread the word,
rise up,
protest for George.
Protest for those who don't have a voice,
for those who have died the same way George has.
Because he is not the only one.

Just reading this makes me even more angry. This is really well written, but most importantly, its informative and true. When you asked why these officers chose to kill an innocent POC and why they would do such a terrible thing, the answer goes far back in history, all the way to when slavery (in form of plantations and ownership) was still legal (the 13th amendments still allows in form of criminals but thats a separate thing). Both the justice and the police systems are rooted deep in racism, and have direct ties with slavery, lynching, ect. The hundreds and hundreds of officers who have murdered unarmed black people did it not because they were confused or unaware of their racism, but because they are a part of and working for an extremely systemic racist and inherently white system. They can be that terrible because its the system and the culture of being a (white) officer that creates people like rrett hankison, jason rosenblatt, George Zimmerman, and so many others. Theres a much longer answer to your question but this comment is already so long. I would recommend to anyone seeing this comment to watch the documentary 13th on netflix or just doing research about the justice and police systems. Im sorry for this being so long Forever Young lol. Your piece was really good!
