the spiders spin you webs
to veil your eyes and afford you
silk dresses and a throne of silver
you thought you were their queen
but don't you know spiders?
my darling, they will crown you
with a diadem of venom
a prisoner in her own throne
close your eyes
they whisper sweetly
as they suck your youth
from your cherry blossom cheeks
and eat your dumpling soft skin
mouth dancing with savoury strawberries
look at your fine silk gown
can't you see it's your chains?
think of their saccharine words
can't you see it's the guillotine
poised over your regal neck?
look at you, my sweet
they will vanquish your ever lasting beauty
you are stuck in their web of lies
if only you would simply
open your eyes
 

On this Earth are over 7 billion people
7 billion souls
Each playing different roles
With different skills and talents
Different cultures and habits
Not one person on this Earth is the same

You are unique and shine at what you do
Because no one in this world can do it like you

So when you feel down, try and smile
Because you could travel for miles and yet
Not one person on this Earth is the same

If people make fun of your special ability
Don’t give it too much thought, their words lack credibility
Their hurtful words stem from envy
So don’t let them disrupt your excellency because
Not one person on this Earth is the same

Now for some reason if you are on the Perpetrators side
Take a step back and think about why
Why you choose to lie to yourself and everyone else on your side
Their skills are amazing but so are yours

Open your eyes, and see we are the same. 
We all have two eyes, ears, a nose, mouth, and brain.
Open your eyes and see what is in the words.
In every religion, writings, and sayings, 
Does it not say,
To love your neighbor?
In Christanity we say, God created us in his image, 
So how can we then say “you are not one of us” and drive them away?
White, black, lesbian, or gay.
The origin stories around the world, don’t say one is better than the other
But here is the thing,
Biases affect everyone and everything.

Open your eyes, and see we are the same.
Even if I’m from Vermont, and you are from Beijing.
Open your eyes and see what I see.
Why call each other names that are born from hate and history?
And instead see the world through the eyes of a child.
Unless he is taught hate, he is born with love beyond borders and race.

Open your eyes and see we are the same.

Open your eyes to the world beyond our screens,
to the non pixilated faces who you have been surrounded by for years.
Watch the way their skin crinkles, with depth and life.
Listen to how their voice doesn't crack under the depths and shallows of your wifi.
Smell there rose shampoo and conditioner in their dark black hair.
Touch their soft hand, and their blue sweater which you knitted for them.
Open your eyes, 
what have you missed ?
