Silent Wolf

The Pearl

I used to be different years ago.
I didn't retain my memories
In the way I do now, and
I didn't know what happened
All those times before
My mind was wiped.
Before it
It seemed I was a different person
An accursed alter-ego
But someone who was better than I was now
Someone who could
Open up, be themselves, not be held back
By walls and walls and walls
Like a grain of sand at the center of a pearl.
I used to be different years ago.
Because it's always the same, that
Horrible moment when you remember something
And it seems like the memory of someone else
Someone who died a long time ago.

I love this poem! I can definitely relate to feeling a separation to my younger self.
