beauty

remember the time beauty
used to be
well
beauty?
not really

they say
natural beauty used to look
attractive
but people got greedy,
society got greedy,
suddenly
looking natural
was not attractive enough

we had to go back to the drawing board
the mirror,
the wardrobe,
the operating room,
to achieve the definition of beauty
once again

but before going to the mirror
applying
moisturizer,
mascara,
eyeliner,
nail polish,
lipstick,
i want to let you know
that all
i care about
is you,
not your makeup

before going to the wardrobe
trying
shirts,
t-shirts,
skirts,
leggings,
shoes,
i want to let you know
that all
i care about
is you,
not your clothes

before going to the operating room
operating on your
neck,
shoulders,
elbows,
knees,
heels,
i want to let you know
that all
i care about
is you,
not your body

but i don’t blame you
i can’t
because all these
members of society,
these advertisers,
these pricks,
with their standards
and rules
abuse,
insult,
and
ridicule,
you
in order to achieve their definition
to be accepted,
praised,
and
loved

they say
“oh you look too fat,
buy these new diet pills!”
“oh you look too thin,
sucks to be you.”

don’t let them
manipulate
you
control
you
become a pawn
in their game

fight back

say
“i don’t need your cheap mascara”
say
“i don’t need your uncomfortable jeans”
say
“i don’t need your ridiculously expensive surgery”
say
“i don’t need your diet pills”
now
scream
at the top
of your lungs
“i don’t need you!”

because i am beautiful the way i am
you will never be strong, but weak
i am beautiful the way i am
you will never be beautiful, but ugly
I am beautiful the way I am
you will never be satisfied, but unsatisfied
I
am beautiful the way I am
you will never be happ-
I AM BEAUTIFUL THE WAY I AM!
