Stormy sunset

The storm has passed
And just in time.
Over the conquered hills of lush trees,
A sunset descends.

Puffy ghost white clouds begin their color run,
Pastel pink, traffic cone orange, and sunshine yellow burst,
Staining the clouds as they sprint.

A soft cool breeze whispers through the trees.
The ink black silhouettes of the trees dance to the wind.

Watery mirrors of glass reflect the sunset's shine.
If you step on them, they silently crack.
The smell of water floats through the air.

Crickets chirp a funeral song in the distance
As the sun makes the hills its vast green grave.

A stormy sunset gifts the world with peace.
Silence.
Knowledge of forgotten beauty.
Hope for those who have lost it.
Solitude for those who crave it.
Love.
And life.

A sunset is the day's grand finale.
It welcomes the darkness that will soon conquer the land.
As the sun descends the wind sings a lullaby.
A sunset is nature's stunning goodbye.

the imagery in this is so beautiful! I love the line "Watery mirrors of glass reflect the sunset's shine. If you step on them, they silently crack." I think that description really brings out the feelings/mood in this poem

I couldn't agree more - and I especially love the part that goes "Crickets chirp a funeral song in the distance / As the sun makes the hills its vast green grave."

THIS.IS. INCREDIBLE. Wow. I love this, definitely agree with everyone else that you've done an amazing job with the imagery! I think a perfect word to describe this one is “Brilliant”….

( I think I made you up inside my head )
