In an attempt to comprehend

“Think of what it’s like to behold a gorgeous sunset… we yearn to linger, to experience it all our days. Sometimes the beauty is so deep, it pierces us with longing. For what? For life as it was meant to be. Beauty reminds us of an Eden we have never known, but somehow know our hearts were created for.”
-Captivating; John & Stasi Eldredge

The light catches my eye as I scurry to the window. Inhale...exhale.

Beauty in the sun that kisses the pavement. Beauty in the trees that crookedly reach towards an infinite atmosphere. Beauty in the painted sky, that our human eyes can only behold for just a moment before growing heavy. Beauty in the creatures as they uniquely and joyfully carry on with the roles they have been given. Beauty in the fields of patterns and collages.

I am left to myself, feeling as though the universe consists of only the Creator and me.

I reminisce on laughter that left me breathless. I think back to wonderful moments when excitement was so tangible and my heart skipped every other beat. I smile because of the time I’ve been given on this unpredictable planet; full of confusion, pain, and uncertainty, as well as growth, elegance, and fellowship.

I stare up into the sky one last time, in an attempt to comprehend the complex magnificence of consciousness.
