"Women of America are not calm right now..." [Claire McCaskell, as quoted by Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin] The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block a Texas abortion ban, the most restrictive abortion law in the country. It prohibits most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, makes no exceptions for incest or rape, and deputizes citizens to sue providers or those aiding the procedure with the potential for a $10,000 reward. What does this mean for women in Texas and women across America? Heartbeat

I have a hearbeat too
And it's not yours to stop because
I have a heartbeat too
And I have fully formed lungs
I have little hands and little feet
I have a future too
I have a future and you shackle me to the past
I have rights
I have a right to bodily autonomy just like you do
And if all that makes a person a person is a hearbeat
Remember
I have a heartbeat too
