Bittersweet

Crackling static memories fill
A dusty room with sunny melancholy
Framed photographs cling to
Glass frosted over
With years gone by
Someday soon they'll crack, tossed
Into the depths of no one knowing my name anymore.
This drop on my
Tongue is bittersweet
As I memorize the fine lines of your face
What if I never
See you again?
But if you see me again someday
Soon or far-removed
Sitting in a room of regret
Say that you'll remember
Who we used to be, and if I
Don't recognize your face,
Tell me that it's ending, another one
Is near, maybe then I'll smile,
Auld Lang syne,
The end.
